I will never forget this house. Ron took me over to see it, and after kicking in the door (yes, we already owned it don’t worry) he said the look on my face was pure horror. This was our first flip together (but definitely not our last) where squatters had been staying. There was trash, human waste, and all sorts of things that don’t need to be mentioned because I’m sure your imagination has already taken you there. It smelled a smell that I had never smelled before. And I need ten showers afterwards. The majority of our ‘before’ photos are post clean up, if you can even let your brain take you to how bad it was prior to clearing it out. I took a few in the process, and the rest are from our appraiser’s report. There were green hallways, blue bedrooms, curtains that were still up from what looked like 1952, and carpet that was calling to be pulled up.
But underneath all of the mess and filth was a gorgeous foyer, built -ins on either side of a fireplace with the original mantel in tact, and architectural details that cannot be replicated. We brought this home back to life with hardwood floors throughout, new windows, new kitchen and bath, interior and exterior paint, landscaping, HVAC, and a whole lot of TLC. I loved every minute of this flip. We recently purchased another a few houses down, so stay tuned for Flipping Elm #2!
